Dwarf rhodendron issue

i moved this plant last autumn and it flowered quite nicely but over the summer it looks like it has become scorched. I have mulched it with ericaceous compost but it hasn't perked up at all. Is it beyond saving ? Any help much appreciated. Thank you.imageimage

  • Looks dead to me but the way to tell is to scratch off a small amount of bark with your thumbnail.  If it is brown underneath then that section is dead so try further down.  If you find any green there is still some hope but you should remove any stems which are clearly dead and cut back into live wood.

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

I agree with Bob. Hopefully you will find some green under the bark.

  • We had ad to move the shrub due to and extension we were having built. Thanks for your comments – there isn't any sign of green so I think I agree that it has seen better days. Not sure what to plant in its place so may just leave it where it is and revisit again in the spring .
