clematis
Good morning.
i have a clematis cutting, taken 5 months ago. I popped it into a bottle of water, topped up the water as required. it now has a good root system, the leaves have faded, as its autumn.
?should I now plant it into cutting compost, or leave it in water until spring.

Morning Goldfinch. Personally I would plant it up into a deep pot (those specially designed for Clematis) and keep it somewhere sheltered to overwinter until you decide where it is going to go.
It's only a cutting. As Ladybird says, get it in a pot and overwinter somewhere sheltered. It'll need potting on a few times until it's big enough to withstand being put into a bed or border. It will also be susceptible to slug and snail damage for the next year while it gets big enough to defend itself.
Remember to plant deeply too to encourage more stems from below ground.
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Which clematis is it ?
