How to stop standards growing!?

Im thinking of buying 3 holly standards lolllypops all at around 5ft, i want them all to look the same and stay at that height so how do i stop the trunk/tree from growing to 6ft and another to 5.5ft ect hope this makes sence! Thank you

tree growth is from the top/ends of branches, you have to keep clipping them. The trunk, below the lollipop, will get thicker but not longer.

You are  giving me ideas to experiment with.

How do you stop the stem of the standard  from getting top heavy with the weight of the foliage?

I tried this once. As the top growth of leaves is what fuels the plant it seems to be a balancing act between enough top growth and getting the stem thick enough to support it.

You have to support the stem with canes until it's strong enough to cope without. With some plants that can take several years.

do you get berries on lollipops or are the flowering/berrying bits repeatedly cut off?

Not that I'm thinking of growing one, just interestedimage
