    Thank you Nutcutlet.

Is this the right time of year to do that now or should I leave it until Spring?

I'd wait til the hydrangea is dormant (leafless) and the ground is wet which will make it easier. That will do for the cotoneaster, they're not fussy,

but I don't grow hydrangeas, someone else will advise when would be best for that, I think it might be a less obliging plant

The cotoneaster is very prone to seeding everywhere and taking over.

It is a lovely shrub in the right place though. I bet the bird sat on your Hydrangea munching the berries and deposited the seed where they sat.  It will probably be difficult to get the cotoneaster out without having to move the hydrangea.

Again, many thanks Nutcutlet and also Iamweedy.

I'll do what you suggest and will come back and let you know how it worked out.

    Have a good weekend.image
