Copperdog, I went on Wednesday afternoon to Longacres Bagshot and also brought three! Perhaps you had got in before me because stock was a little lacking at that point. I got some Rudbeckia goldsturm, aquilegias & hollyhocks. It's definitely my favourite garden centre, it's huge with lots and lots of variety and the care taken is far superior to Wyevale here.
I over-wintered a few similarly sized lychnis plants last year, and also put a few in the ground last autumn - the ones in the ground were big, beautiful and hearty throughout the summer, whereas the ones potted on and over-wintered in the cold frame did their best but were nothing in comparison. Definitely best in the ground now.
