What did this?

Hi, my first post - a complete garden novice just starting to take my garden in hand. I left a load of bags of compost out overnight and every bag has been ripped apart when I got up this morning. Any suggestions what and why? Squirrels?

Probably foxes or possibly badgers hunting for worms

Thanks Pete8 - was just curious. I thought it might be something bigger than a squirrel. Lots of foxes around but I didn't think of badgers. I'll get on with clearing it up now!

    Enriched with bonemeal maybe?

We have foxes so never use bonemeal or bfb - had thought of using it to encourage foxes to dig over the beds. It might make weeding a little easierimage

Hi - checked the bags - no mention of bonemeal, just says 'high in organic matter and micro organisms'. It clearly was highly motivating though - the bags look like Freddie Kruger's been at them!

  • I can't see what the fuss is about. I always open my bags like that.
