    They're hideous things to get rid of @rosemary1mackenzie
    I'd get hold of that stump killing stuff if you can- I can't recall it's name but I'll see if I can find it. I'm not sure ordinary weedkiller ever does the job.
    It's not really the right time of year to apply, but worth a shot.

    You need to wait until it's gone before you plant anything else though - personally I'd leave it over winter to be safe, and prep all the ground first  :)
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    I would just add that interior designers are loving pampass grass right now, my oh wants one for the plumes.

    Miscanthus is a better bet all round I think. But I do like Pampas in the right context. There are some more compact types but they look a bit cramped and stiff to me, they need space imho.
