apricot tree

hi all,

has anyone grown an apricot tree outside? 

im thinking of buying one next year pluot variety but was wondering would they actually produce fruit in the uk ,with our weather? thank you for any help/advice

  • They grow perfectly well, all over the country. Lovely fruit and the best jam (after damson)

    The pluot is a plum/apricot hybrid and I've not grown one.  I have eaten them and wasn't that impressed - nothing like the wonderful taste of a freshly picked apricot image

    There are plenty of apricot varieties that will produce fruit in a sheltered spot outside in the UK. My mother in law has a very productive tree in Lincolnshire.  Think hers is a Goldcot.

  • aww thank you all for your help and advice think i got abit mixed up sorry as was looking at plums ans apricots at the same time lol, plums were pluot the candy one , the apricot one is either golden glow or petit muscat ,

    i think i will go with the golden glow it seems to have good reviews so again thank you :)
