Waste land clearance

hi I've just been alloyed a piece of waste land beside my house very overgrown with brambles and couch grass.I am of limited time to clear it does anyone know of a quick and easy way to clear it effectivly is about quarter of an acre

Probably best with a man and mini digger (about £200) and a good fire. Weedkiller for that area would put too many toxic chemicals in the ground, to my mind.
