What is this?

these leaves are appearing at fairly regular intervals In my borders. I'm hoping it's a type of thistle but wandered if anyone could identify it before I assume it's a weed.

The leaves are up to 9" long with conical spikes over the surface

Many thanks, K

Teasels. Next year they send up the flowering spike. Bees love them. Goldfinches eat the seeds.

  • thanks, that's perfect.

I did plant some teasel seeds, along with other types, but have had terrible luck sowing seed so wasn't sure it was just a weed.
