Chartreuse plant

emma louemma lou Posts: 170

A neighbour has given me a Chartreuse plant. Now this is a long shot as we are in France and many people may not of heard of it. It comes on the back of a conversation we had about the Chartreuse drink and the fact we had also bought some tea at the distillery as well. Does anyone know anything about it? I know little about it, other than the fact it thrives in sun and spreads rapidly.mI am hoping I can make tea with it?

  • It's yellow green colour, but the plant, nope, never heard of it. What is it?

  • All I can find is references to various plants of that colour, be it leaf or flower, but not a specific plant

Is the stem square in cross-section?

It looks like one of the many varieties of mint - some of which are possibly in the secret recipe for the drink Chartreuse.

    What does it smell of?

Tanacetum balsamita seems to be a name that my neighbour came up with but wiki does not seem to mention the Chartreuse. I would say it smells like a concoction of Chartreusey herbs if you have ever come acros the drink. It's delicious.

Doesn't look like a Tanacetum to me.
