Azalea problem

Hi all

I have had a potted azalea for well over 15 years and it has always looked glorious ... as it did this year. Then it just died! What on earth has happened? Any advice welcomed, thank you. Here's a photo of what it has looked like. The flowers are small and 'rosebuddy' and I have repotted it every two or three years in ericaceous compost.

    Overwatering? See http://homeguides.sfgate.com/azalea-life-span-85460.html

Thanks Papi Jo, but I can't see it somehow. I've looked after it for many years now with no problem and have done nothing differently this year ... it's a mystery! Thanks for the link by the way, interesting read.

    Thanks Verdun

I was thinking of taking it out of the pot to have a closer look. I have never met a vine weevil, are they obvious? From what I have read, overwatering would cause it to look 'sick' before it dies, but I don't think it did (unless I just didn't notice!). I am sad to lose it after having it for so long.

    Thanks
