Spring Bulbs already sprouting.. in October!
Hello,
I am looking for some advice and help. I am new to gardening and have recently brought our first home so have a garden of my own to develop and learn in.
Seeing all the spring bulbs coming into the garden centres I decided to get ahead and planted lots of my spring bulbs out in pots and throughout the garden. I did this it early september.
It is now the start of october and the bulbs are sprouting greenery already! It just seems to be mainly the ones that i planted out in pots that are growing but also in flower beds.
Will this be a problem come spring? will i have spring flowers or will i need to re plant more bulbs? What should i do?
Any help or advice gratefully received. I'm guessing that in the future i should wait until a little later in the year to plant them next year?
Many thanks all

Hi Katrina and welcome
Glad to say you have no need to panic - some bulbs do start early, but their rate of growth will slow to a virtual standstill as the nights draw in and the temperatures fall. You'll get your flowers in the spring - hope you'll show us some photos then

Don't worry, they will not come to any harm, although they might flower at the 'wrong' time.
Sorry to come in on this thread, I know this is an old thread but thought I would use it to ask my Q rather than start a new thread . This year (for the first time) I left the spring bulbs in containers and put them behind the shed for the summer to bring them out again in the autumn. I have just noticed that I have bulbs coming up in August ? :O(
I can see in October that bulbs would slow with the cold weather but August is a bit early isn't' it? I have just bought some new bulbs to plant in the garden (new build didn't have a garden last year) where I bought them said to plant now but I am now worried about doing so . Don't bulbs know when to grow/flower? Thanks
