Corn on the Cob
in Fruit & veg
I have grown some Corn on the Cob for the first time and they are ready for picking. Is it ok to leave them on the Plant until I want to eat one, or should I pick and store them. If I need to pick and store, can you advise best way to do this

Best picked and plunged straight into boiling water. As soon as you pick them, the sugars start turning into starch and so the cobs become less sweet. If you can't eat them all before they go over, they do freeze extremely well. I had a huge crop several years ago and froze the majority which still tasted great 6 months later.

The problem with corn on the cob is that they don't keep once picked and they don't keep on the plant either. When ours are ready we eat them nearly every day until they're finished
The alternative is to freeze them, either on the cob like this

or as kernels

I've heard you can freeze the cobs still wrapped in their leaves. Is that true? Saves on the blanching bit.
I do same as Dove. We have a sweet corn fest all September. We have finished them now so we are back to tinned until next year. Fresh sweet corn grown yourself can never be bettered. Stuff that has been hanging around after picking is not the same.
we've got 5 left for lunch tomorrow and that's this year's crop gone.
