Anyone know what this shrub is please?

imageThis shrub has been in my garden for years but I've never been able to identify it. It can grow quite tall, about 6 feet, and when left to grow has these clusters of flowers. They show from about July and stay on til the first frosts.

  • I had 3 different colour ones but now only the red survive.  They are not completely hardy in the UK so winter protection is advisable.

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

In late spring, cut it back by two thirds. I've had a cream one and a red one for about six years.
