Thread worm lookalike

I have worms! Not personally but i have just noticed in a planter that i have small white worm like creatures the look exactly like the wirms my cat has, and child occasionally but more the cat, the are only a few mil long no black head not clear and sqidge not worm /snake move. The only thing i have done different was that i added chicken poo feed into the planter some time ago. They look like cat worms. Just worried we may pick something up from the garden. Any help?

  • They're just one of the many many types of worms and nematodes etc that live in our soil, breaking down organic matter and making it available to the plants.

Obviously you teach your children to wash their hands after playing in the garden, just to be on the safe side - particularly as you have pets.

Lots of the lower forms of life look similar rachel.

Human thread worms have no other host and don't live outside the body as worms. Eggs leave the human body to me recirculated by those who don't watch their hands after contact with their sh.t.

I imagine it's much the same for other intestinal worm species, though some have a secondary host in the cycle. Worm inside host, eggs outside.
