When to pot on cuttings
I took some penstemon cuttings about 6 weeks ago and have kept them in a propagator since then.
The majority of them have now sprouted a few small leaves, but the root development seems very slow. I am aware that autumn/winter is coming and am wondering what I should do regarding potting them on.
I'd be grateful for any help.
Thanks,
Chris

I'd like to know the answer too please although my cuttings have only been in the pot for a couple of weeks and are still outside at the moment.
Don't pot them on until they show decent root growth. You will see the roots growing out of the base of the pot. Some cuttings are fine outside all winter (I had a holly that held on by the skin of its leaves and finally rooted in spring) but anything even slightly delicate should stay indoors over winter.
Thank you Ceres - makes perfect sense to wait until you can see some roots
