Schoolboy error

ive just created a wildlife pond and when putting in the river stones I forgot to wash them first (schoolboy error) is there anything other than draining the pond to fix the cloudyness

The water will settle so I wouldn't be overly worried about the pond.

  • Thanks for that , it has settled already , just wasnt to sure if it would have a lasting effect on the pond come next spring . Thanks again

  • I put a pond in this year and when I was putting the plants in, I actually took them all out of the baskets and pulled away most of the compost so there was barely any. The aim of this is that the roots work harder in the water, apparently and do more to keep the pond clear.

I got chatting to a neighbour as I was doing it and the 5th plant I put in, I took the basket off and completely forgot to remove the compost. As I placed it in the water, it all just floated to the top and turned the pond water into a cup of coffee.

Clear as a bell now though.
