Cat eating my bulbs
hi
i planted lots of bulbs a few weeks ago and they are being dug up every night- I think by a cat- can I do anything to stop this?

Replace the bulbs and soil. Water well and then cover with a strip of chicken wire pegged down over the bulbs or plenty of spiky prunings from holly or hawthorn.
More likely to be squirrels or foxes than a cat.
Be grateful you haven't got badgers .....
We have a set of them and have learned not to use bone meal, we planted some new rhododendron, put bone meal in the hole and the next day the plants were neatly dug out and the holes licked clean .... I took the hint and we now feed the clan and are rewarded by watching baby badgers having wrestling matches.
We also have deer, foxes and moles - I can't believe the size of the mole hills, one of my cats brought a very bemused mole into the house and we found it trying to dig its way into a rug .... luckily for us in five years the moles have kept off the grass and kindly rotate the soil at the very far side of the garden, I figure all the wildlife was there before we moved in so we have to learn to live in peace.
Thanks- I will use chicken wire- John
I'd agree with obelixx - squirrels, in particular, love digging up bulbs, especially the small ones like crocus or the little alliums. Chicken wire is the answer
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
