Read and re-read the manual for the chainsaw that I bought last year from a friend and haven't used yet. I cleaned the thing and refuelled/oiled to get familiar with it then re-tensioning it based on Google advice. I likened it to a sewing machine, which is way more complicated to be honest (I'm not being smart here - no gender sniping can be inferred!), with sewing machines, you have top tension and bottom tension. Thank goodness on a chainsaw it's only one type. I gather you hold the tip to the sky, release the bolts holding the guide bar a touch and then fine-tune the tensioning screw until the teeth on the bottom are just inside the tracks - giving the chain freedom but not enough to pop out.
Since most of the damage was in next doors' garden, we had to distract Beanie the dog whilst we carried out the work.
Happy that my untested purchase was a success when needed. RESULT!

What? You don't use a chainsaw Nut? I've seen your industrial shredder, come on now!
Me and a chainsaw would not be a good combination Cloggie.
I'll stick with the shredding

I thought me, the chainsaw and the OH wouldn't be a good combination but it was only wood what got cut so all is good in the world.
only wood is good. I've seen chainsaw injuries
