My Kousa Dogwood is dropping its leave...

Hi guys,

10 days ago or so my young Kousa Dogwood started to turn lovely colours of red and purple. Now almost all the leaves have dropped. Surely it can't be the Autumn fall this early?! I have checked the branches and they seem to still be alive. Anyone else ever had this problem? I only planted less than a month ago so I thought it may be shock, but I really am perplex!

Any advice or info would be very appreciated. Really hope I haven't killed it.

Many thanks

Sven

If its newly planted it may have been a bit dry. Have you given it a bucket of water at least once a week?

  • Thanks fidgetbones...I've been watering fairly regularly. It has dropped all its leaves now. I'm gonna leave it in over the winter and see how it does next spring.

  • Right now Sven a lot of leaves are going over early it's been dry over the last 6 weeks and the downpour's we've had have often not penetrated the soil to any depth. Thus trees and shrubs go into survival mode and start dropping leaves. I really wouldn't worry.
