  • Good to know I'm not alone!!

I'm going to re pot the pansies, as u feel the soil is moving with woodlice and maybe try putting Vaseline around the pot! Will report back!

Sanjay(don't remember the no.)... I love your experiment.   It was you who first alerted me to them eating strawberries and I've seen it too and I'm glad you have proved it!

Woodlice are crustaceans, just like shrimp and prawns.   I don't eat any seafood--I find it disgusting--but whenever my husband is enjoying prawns I tell him I have a bunch of woodlice in the garden I can whip up for him.  He hasn't taken me up on it so far.

By the way... what DOES eat woodlice?   Having so many, it'd be good to think they were a feast for some critter or other.

  • I definitely suffer from woodlice eating my pansies and polyanthus -especially the blue ones. I check every evening and hoick them out. Have had some success with sprinkling flour - my logic being that it blocks the spiracles, what do you think? I think I have made a rid for my own back by using fibrous material to line wall baskets
