winter growths

part of the garden dug over composted and manured , can I plant anything for growth during the autumn .

seems silly leaving it like that

  • In the second half of October I'll be sowing broad beans - Aquadulce Claudia - they will start to grow and overwinter to give you an early crop in May - usually way too early to succumb to aphid attack like later sown beans.  

    This variety has withstood 9 weeks of being under snow in the winter, and still given me a good crop. 


    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

    Spinach, if you pick one of the fast growing types. Or winter lettuce, though you may need to start them under cover if it gets cold at night where you are
