Kerria blight

To my surprise my fairly large established Kerria shrub seems to have developed blight. The leaves have withered with red rusty edges and oval dark spots on the stems. It sits against the garage gets a pruning after spring flowering and I dont water it. Should I prune it right down at this late stage and / or treat it with antifungal spray. Or dig it out and burn it. Theres monbretia and honeysuckle in the same bed and some ground cover thats healthy.

  • I've discovered the same problem with a long established Kerria hedge in a friend's garden. It was looking sickly over the summer and when I saw it today it had lost nearly all its leaves already and those canes that were still green had dark oval spots on them. We're in the Midlands. Is Kerria blight a new disease in the UK?
