Wisteria

i have a wisteria over thirty years old, never had a problem, then mid August all the leaves turned brown died and dropped off. The plant looked completely dead, then beginning of September it start to grow flower buds all over and now new leaves are starting to grow? It is acting as if it is early spring. I am confused or the plant is, it is if it had a great shock shed its leaves and has started again, anyone know why this would happen, to what has been up to know a totally healthy happy wisteria?

Hi ken. Very mysterious but you are not on your own about plants behaving unseasonally as there have been several posts mentioning the same thing. Maybe it is as a result of our rather strange weather this year.

I had flowers on my wisteria in late August too.  Not sure why.

I've got huge seed pods this year. Never noticed them in the past.

  • Our Wisteria has shed lots of leaves this Summer but ours is down to excessive heat (in France) and it just couldn't stand the scorching from the sun. It seems fine now we are back down in the mid twenties.
