Very slippery decking

Had rotten fall on my decking. What can I use that really stops if being slippery ?

  • I used a hard wearing paint and scattered sharp sand across it while it was still wet. Worked a treat.

  • But did that mess up the appearance of the decking ?

The decking needs to be cleaned regularly to avoid a build up of moss and /or algae which can become lethally slippery when it's wet.  Problem is greater in areas which don't get a lot of sunlight.

I have heard that attaching chicken wire or similar to the decking stops it being so lethal.

That's usually what places with a H&S liability do - good long term solution.

Jeyes fluid and a stiff broom will clean the slime off, but you have to do it regularly, it won't stop it returning.
