Plums
in Fruit & veg
Our plum harvest this year is disastrous. The fruit was ripening well and then turned brown/black - unusable. Did the usual summer pruning feeding etc. Could the ten year old victoria plum tree bepast it? Any help would be most appreciated.

Probably brown rot, which is common to stone fruit, although more usually when the weather is damp. However, humid weather will also contribute to the problem and we've had some of that too.

Thanks for your reply Hortum=create (love your title!!) Do you think cold weather and lack of sun could also be a factor. We are 20 miles south of Edinburgh. We are thinking new plum tree??
