Having a couple of wood burners in the house I end up with a lot of wood ash. Is this a asset to use around the garden, or waste to be taken to the tip?
What do you recommend.

Depends on whether you are burning broken up treated wood pallets, or old window frames, or wooden logs. If it has been treated, I would bin it. If it is untreated logs, then sprinkle around your fruit trees or mix in the compost heap.
I tip mine over the roses.
