Lovely rose Fred.... no I think you're right about it not being 'Ballerina', and looking at the shape of the bush it seems to be spreading out at the base, like what is termed a ground cover rose.  So have a look at 'Rosy Cushion' and see what you think...

'Summer Wine' is another but I think that's a touch more orange and semi double..

  • Still not sure,  thanks all for your help. Can't wait to see it next year. Might keep it In a pot. Have no room anywhere to plant it.

  • I thought Rosy Cushion too like Marlolena...saw it a couple of weeks ago in the Cotswalds. Then again the petals on yours are a bit more open.....

Well done on the cutting. Wish I could succeed in rose cuttings!

Fred isn't convinced, so let's go with a last one and try 'Coral Flower Carpet'.  Although you see some images of this one darker than Fred's, I can see some dark tones in Fred's blooms, and I think they also get lighter as in this photo on the link below which offers the closest resemblance..

The Flower Carpet series is very popular too... again called procumbent roses, but their flowering canes go to 4 foot or so...and the foliage is that nice dark glossy green.. these roses are prolific bloomers but they tend to collapse about a bit when it rains and take on that ground cover look..

On reflection, I think this is the more likely one Fred.  What do you think?

  • Hmmm LOL, still not sure! I don't think it's a ground cover rose. The gardener cut the lower stems off when they collapsed after the rain like you said Marlorena. Then it started to just grow from the top.

    Thanks again all

lol....you're a hard man to please Fred... I still think it's Flower Carpet but hope you find out to your satisfaction, in due course..

...I'm tempted to get one just in case, it's obviously such a good do-er..

    best wishes...
