Powdery Mildew on Pumpkins

Just wanted to check before I go taking drastic action, that my action plan for powdery mildew on my pumpkins is correct: I'm intending to spray them with a mixture of bicarbonate of soda and water, but is it necessary to prune all the leaves with any signs of mildew at all? One of the plants wouldn't be left with many leaves then. Also, is the bicarb the best plan?
Thanks in advance

Just remove the worst of the old leaves and keep the plant well watered. It happens. I'd keep the chemicals to a minimum. The plant won't mind too much about what it looks like. Important to keep it 'moving forward' as it were, producing new growth, even at this end of the year
