Multiply 5 x 4 x .2 (8 inches being 20 centimetres) comes to 4 cubic metres.
Marvellous, but how does that become tonnes?
The builders bags that are approx 1 m cube hold a tonne of gravel etc. I would consider 4 cubic metres to be 4 tonnes.
Many thanks to you both. I will be ordering with confidence.
Most top soil is sold in bulk bags that contain 0.64 cube not tonnes. 1 cube is equal to aprox 2.41 tonnes.
If you can purchase by volume rather than weight you have a much better idea of the quantity you will receive. Possibly stating the obvious, but wet soil will weigh considerably more than dry(ish).
thank you everyone.
