Tiller clogging weed runners

image I thought it may be ground elder but the spacing is wrong.. It is tough! The tiller clogged with this stuff wrapping itself around the blade shaft.  I suspect it is going to cause problems so idebrification and advice appreciated.

Wild strawberries? Some say they are very tasty, but I haven't noticed

Hard to judge scale but probably Potentilla reptans, creeping cinquefoil.  Very long tough roots.

    In the sticks near Peterborough
  • Yes, looks like cinquefoil to me - the runners are like wire!

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

  • Brilliant..  Thank you!
