It's been bad here this year - the mild winter I think. We have a UV zapper doobrey in the utility which gets about half, a fly swat for very annoying ones that keep buzzing the dogs and I generally don't get rid of the spiders that set up home in unobtrusive corners. Good excuse for not doing the housework
We've used old fashioned fly papers in previous years. They certainly do work.

And Michael says you can get them in the pound shop so even better
I find cluster flies come some years, and not others, but these require some serious kit or a professional.
If its house flies and blue bottles, get one of those electric tennis bat things, mine is called the executioner, its a pretty good tool.
