I never feel hurried at Beeches. Its like wandering round someone's garden with bees and butterflies flitting about the plants on sale.

Ashwood Nursery, Kingswinford, (on the Staffordshire, West Mids Border near Dudley).  Never seen so much as a dead leaf never mind a dead plant.  A great range of plants, lots of knowledge and help and the best cake I have ever tasted.  It can't be beaten.

Another goody is St Peters Nursery at Norton near Worcester.

Hi from Kingswinford in the West Midlands
  • Just to bring everybody back round...

We're just back from Frosts (yes, I know... a chain!) in Brampton, but found it very pleasant. A chilli festival going on with live music and chilli based food and products; but with quality plants and and gardening taking centre stage and at prices which a half of what Wyevale are trying to charge for absolute rubbish.

Staff seen attending new stock carefully and interestedly.

    Excellent!

Aylett's in St Albans, Herts. The best nursery I've ever visited. Plants in excellent condition, knowledgeable staff, they even have a dedicated desk (two, actually) to answer gardening queries. They put on events throughout the year as well.

I can definitely recommend Aylett's. I used to work near them and I could have easily spent all my wages there. Fabulous for dahlias which is what they are renown for and it's still family run

  • Perrywoods of Tiptree Essex.  A good all round garden centre with healthy plants, the usual garden necessities, seasonal home goods and a delish coffee shop.
