Me too, might be OK if I had a G/H or cold frame or something...but no...come spring the house looks like someone has chucked seed, watered and turned the heat up. People are afraid to come here lest an anaconda slithers out from the conservatory corner.
I've used milk containers for a good few years now, you just sow hardy seeds and forget about them come what may, wind, frost or snow they stay snug in their individual little greenhouses. If anyone wants more info just google Winter Sowing.
To provide balance to the discussion, I don't like growing from seed. I resent the amount of compost it takes (I'm so mean! ). I love it when things self-seed in borders so I don't collect seed and I like (love) growing things from cuttings.
The above pic is of a couple of my containers that had reach the stage of being left open during the day ( they don't require much in the way of hardening off). Taken earlier in the year.
Your welcome Villaverde 123, Have you googled it, as there is a lot more info online too. I found it very useful to read up on it before I started. Better start saving those milk containers now as I'm sure you will get 'hooked', certainly saves on space - I place all my containers round the back of the house out of the way and just leave them be ( don't forget to leave the cap off so that its ventilated and rain can get in!)
