fennel herb

hello. I bought a fennel plant from my local garden centre last year reduced to 50p. best 50p I've ever spent! it's grown to over 6ft tall, has the most attractive flowers and beautiful feathery foliage and been a magnet for pollinators! wasps love it! I planted it in the wrong place and know where I want it for next year. do I cut back and dig up my existing plant and move it or do I wait 'til next year, buy a new plant and site it where I want it? any advice would be welcome, thanks. ooh, or should I try growing new plants from the seed of this existing plant?

  • Hi pickle 61

I have a similar plant in bronze fennel which is six fet high however hte fronds and seeds are great supplements to food you kake at home

I use the fronds for most fish i cook and also collect thr actuel fennel seeds which are flowering now.

Mine is a hardy perennial and seeds when left all over the garden as if left to colinise can actuallyq take over like a weed.........which tastes great

I will post a picture of my plant later this week along with some florence fennel i an currently growing

    Happy gardening
