Their Christmas display is lovely at our Blue Diamond garden centre. You can almost complete your Christmas present shopping at Blue Diamond. We bought rose bushes for some, jigsaws and toys for the children, bird feeders, garden tools, lovely Orchids etc. and there is a nice cafe/restaurant. I think like a lot of niche businesses have had to diversify into other areas of sales to support themselves.
No I am not a share holder, but I do have a vested interest as my daughter works in the offices.
Everytime I go to Wyvale in Worcester (I take my grandaughter in for a cup of tea and a cake) I wonder around the plants in total dismay, They mostly look dead and bedraggled and to be honest I wouldn't take any of them if they were given to me as I would be worried about introducing something nasty into the garden. I love David Austin roses and I'm sure if he could see how Wyvale treat them he would refuse to supply.
There is a massive Wyvale near me at Bridgemere Cheshire. Its so big people come on coach trips from all over. I just find them very expensive in comparison to an independent I use. My wife and feel that it's all very 'instant gardening' and aimed at the day trippers. There are two others in Cheshire that I know off. One is excellent, the other, as said earlier has become a bit downtrodden. With small stock that's not in very good nick. However, we are very lucky in Cheshire and have quite a bit of choice.
Went to Wyvale yesterday at Morpeth way over priced and outside loads of empty space as others have said getting ready for Halloween and christmas Saw a Acer palmatum inaba shidare I liked looked at the label £210 what the heck the place is for the rich and a day out for the kids, get a grip wyvale

I'm guessing that's the one which used to be Bridgmere Garden World way back when. If so, it had gone downhill badly long before Wyevale got involved with it. We used to call in there on our way back from visiting friends near Manchester, and saw the decline over time.
Not attempting to justify stupid prices, and you're right that a number of Wyevale places seem more aimed at day trippers than gardeners. I was actually at our local one today to use up my vouchers before the run out! Could hardly move for wrinklies, and no chance to get a cuppa as millions of them were queueing in there too.

KT3 that's a bit rude re "wrinkles" you'll be old one day too!
KT53 Do you have a problem with "wrinklies"?
Many of us are gardeners and often meet up with like minded friends to shop for plants and to have a coffee/lunch.
