  • Thanks all for the advice. To be honest i didn't expect it to grow as well as it did, it was more an activity to do with my 4 year one afternoon. As it was looking rather good, I thought it could be saved.

Next year we will do it right, as we clearly have a nack for it :D

so ill bring it in, keep it warm.... and watch it rot haha!

Look forward to next year Rhiannon - get organised early and you'll have some lovely toms to eat through summer. It's a great thing to do with your little boy, and I expect he'll enjoy having another go too - even if he doesn't eat them...  image

I've given up hope of getting many ripe toms this year. Been too cold. Only had a few and still not many ripening yet.

Anyone want to make green tom chutney?  image  image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • This is really helpful. I will join the queue for green chutney making because a friend gave me a plant just like this one.after mid summer! It's growing really big, has about four green tomatoes on it but i had no idea what will happen to them! No greenhouse, so I presume it's the same advice that nothing will happen. Thanks
