Acer in distress

Moved into my house in October 2014. Lovely garden with established planted acer (not in pot). Sits in front of fish pond. Approximately 8ft high. Was absolutely fine last year. This year the Acer is struggling as is the grass at it's base. Over half the tree has brown curled up leaves. However, branches appear healthy.…

I hadn't noticed the dead grass

It would have to be a fair bit of weedkiller though - surely - to damage it?

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
