Eucalyptus Question

I recently cut my Eucalyptus tree back as it's getting rather large and since then it's been buzzing with wasps and flies around the end of the branches that have been cut.  Does anyone know why?  I assume they're attracted to the sap but thought that menthol was used as a repellent.  Any advice welcome please!

Menthol is found in  the mint  family. Eucalytus oil is extracted from the leaves of eucalyptus. The sap of most trees is sweet, that is what the wasps are after.

Well, they'll all be having a sugar rush and then buzzing around with remarkably clear "nostrils".  I use eucalyptus oil in diffusers when we have colds.  Works a treat.
