What is it?

Unearthed two large larvae about 50mm white with large brown head and several sets of legs at head end. Are these something I should treasureimage

    No, cutworms . They will eat the roots of whatever plant they are under.

    Hi kathie. They are chafer grubs and will destroy the roots of grass and other plants in the garden. Pest I'm afraid.
