Just been down the road today and it's been chopped down!! It was opposite some cottages just growing up against a wall near the road. The leaves are quite long and straight. Do mallow like the rain cos there's a lot of it round here.
Here's a couple more, 1st one from a garden and the other on a verge.
First one is a Campanula possibly C. persicifolia and the pink one looks very much like Corn Cockle - a wild flower that is less common these days. Some one will be able to confirm this.

Thanks, if you google it, an article from the Guardian comes up called the 'Corncockle Kerfuffle' ! Interesting.
Will keep an eye on it so it survives and doesn't get tidied up!
