Attaching lining to exterior brick wall

Hi

Novice here. Am replanting in an exterior lined bed (two sheets with gauze between). The previous lining looked like it was attached with tape and maybe some adhesive. now needs replacing. Any ideas what it is and how to apply?

Many thanks in advance.

Neil

Hi Neill. Your pictures haven't arrived and I'm not clear what you mean by 'sheets'. Can you try and upload again? You may have to shrink your pictures to post them.

Doesn't the soil in the bed hold the lining in place?

  • Well I guess it does but I suppose it was put on to stop water creeping between the lining and the brick. I'm no expert - clearly!

I'm assuming the top of your planter is above your damp-proof course so you need to be a little careful.

Think I'd be tempted to firstly pain pt the wall with Black Jack and then additionally replace the liner. You could hold it in place with a suitable exterior sealant - maybe a window frame sealant which is designed to be used with products like uPVC and brick so pretty much what you are trying to achieve.

if you know any builders I think I'd also ask them for advice just to be sure. You don't want any damp issues resulting from your efforts that's for sure.

Can I just ask to get things clear in my head (its my age!) but this is a garden wall and not the wall of your house?
