Please can anyone identify this plant that I dug up yesterday ? Hopefully the photo is good enough ! It has quite ribbed leaves & apparently the flowers are on stalks, are purple & look a bit like agastache. Many thanks
Looks like Betony, Stachys officinalis. If it's purple it's probably the wild version, (there is a pink cultivated form) but none the worse for that. Bone hardy, flowers all summer, bees and butterflies love it.

Its a bit difficult without the flowers but could it be a Nepeta e.g. Nepeta cataria?
