  • Frank........ This is my first winter in the UK after 8 years in Southern Spain! Everyone says why on earth did you come back? But it's not all about the weather! I missed the Spring bulbs, the birds singing, and speaking to neighbours in English. I hated the hot desert wind that used to blow for weeks on end, bringing sand with it,hated having to sit in air conditioning through June July and August as it was too hot to even sit outside in the shade!!
    I'm moaning about the snow and cold,but I wouldn't change it!!😁😁🌵🌵🌵🌵🌵

  • Our weather is certainly a talking point Cagzo - I couldn't stand that type of heat that you had in Spain - we all moan about the weather - is that an English "thing"?
Lovely day here but is supposed to rain later - we have had a mild morning - a little wind - at least it is dry during the daytime!

Cagzo (sorry I got the name wrong) (no idea what it means though I had a few postings in Wales). I do know what you mean. The Khamaseen as we called it though the usual name is Khamsin a wind from the south picking up clouds of sand, we had to lock down everything then get in cover and it still got to us, very unpleasant experience indeed. That was the Desert then two runs in Cyprus Malta Gibraltar and you still did not get away from those winds. We also had the Simoon or fifty day winds in Arabic and another Northerly wind in Cyprus that brought humid air, even your sweat got in a sweat. One thing it taught me was we have the best weather in the world, we have seasons with all the seasonal plants and flowers, the glorious green as you fly in over the sea from any point, I would never live anywhere else and certainly never travel out of the UK these days. The mass exodus to France (my Son) and to Spain I never understood, still it takes all sorts I suppose.
Our Sunshine is still with us and it is warm for the time of year, Suddenly my daffodils leaves have appeared and the Crocus popping their heads up for a look around, I told them take it easy we could yet get more winter.

Wish I lived in the UK, in SW France, it's complicated. Been a horrid very wet cold winter here. Sunny, 9° yesterday but I was out so couldn't garden. Today was free for gardening but it was cold and grey. Now have very cold feet.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
  • Oh dear Busy Lizzie,I know how you feel, before Spain we were in Brittany,it was beautiful but so wet and windy, hence the move to Spain. There's no place like home for me,but my OH wants the heat again!!!        No Way!

Up to 9c this afternoon and light wind but chance of some rain.
  • It's supposed to be 9c here at the moment, but doesn't feel much like it. It was reportedly over 6c on the way to parkrun this morning, but I could see my breath. I'm beginning to feel like Olaf from Frozen, dreaming of the summer.

  • A lovely day here - hardly a breath of wind and although the sky is dull it certainly isn't cold.
