  • A glorious day here too, just what we need after all the wind, rain and dull days.  I could easily have carried on working outside all day, but my aching back told me it was time to stop!

Rather a damp day here near York, where I'm on Granny duties.  It dried up a little this afternoon though, and I managed to get out and cut up the Christmas tree, stuffing it in the green bin.  Bin won't be emptied until April though.

    Clear with some sun today!

Took chance to do some power-washing of drive.

My garden and I live in South Wales.

Lir , that’s a long time for garden bin to be emptied , we get only 1 collection in January , then back to every 2 weeks , bin already half full , ours is due to be emptied on 25 image

Yes, GWRS, my son & DIL don't get a very good green bin service.  But it is at least free!  And at home in W.Yorks we don't qualify for green waste collection at all, because our lane is too narrow for the bin lorry.  It's tip trips for me, for anything I can't compost or incinerate.  Bit of a pain really...

Stockton a high of 7C today though dull. Binmen have been the usual 07:00am we get the recycle men once a fortnight and the green waste starts end of March until October all free.

  • After the lovely sun yesterday we are back to the blanket grey again today. Anyone else finding the mornings even darker in Jan than December? Its an odd thing that although the daylight is lengthening in the evenings a little bit sunrise is later now than it was in December. I used to think it was my imagination but it is a real phenomenon. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-30549149

Green bins- yes we are the same no collections till the end of January but as some of you are charged or you don't get them at all I suppose we are ok. They used to just stop for 2 weeks over Christmas but it's up to 6 or 7 this year as they now only collect fortnightly.

  • Same here Iain R, lovely sunshine yesterday and dull today, very little wind, just dull, dull weather - back to the usual. At least we haven't got the forecasted fog.
