winter pansies would make a colourful display along with primulas and trailing ivy planted amongst them.
Are these available now or is it too early please
Yes, the garden websites are selling plant plugs now and I've seen winter pansies and polyanthus at the garden centres at the weekend also at B&Q. I'm hoping to plant some for winter too as soon as my hanging baskets are done!
And Christmas decorations!
Elsewhere on this forum is a similar thread and one suggestion was heuchera which would make a nice contrast to the flowers
My petunias have given a fantastic display but covered in mildew now - still looking good from a distance tho so will be planting up in the next few weeks

Never thought about putting Xmas decorations in my hanging baskets, what a good idea, maybe we should post our efforts at Xmas time, fairy lights 'n' all!!????.
My first attempt at autumn winter baskets
Pansies...trailing ivy..and a nice tall grass for middle..fingers crossed
Winter flowering or universal pansies should be left to purchase in flower in October, to get the full flowering season, buy too early and they will flower out by Christmas and not come back inh flower very well, buy the plugs late July to grow on, but not in flower.
