I want an evergreen specimen shrub that will eventually reach a height of no more than 5-6 foot. It has to be fairly narrow, say no more than 2 foot across though I don't mind trimming it. I don't want any sort of conifer. Has anyone got any suggestions? Thanks!

Daphne (Odora Marianni) or Hebe (Nicola's bush) which both flower too and the Daphne is/should be scented?
Euonymus japonicus has lovely colour all year round and is a tall narrow shrub that can be pruned to a good shape, the Euonymus family have lots of different varieties to suit most requirements.
This is a newly planted one in my garden, behind the shrub with blue flowers. Sorry I can't get the photo to load properly!!
Oh it has!!
