The last one is Phormium tenax

    In the sticks near Peterborough
  • Thank you nutcutlet, I looked back at my Yucca picture and realized it was nothing like the Yucca - I'll never remember all these plantimage names!

No1 is a canna. The green baubles are seed pods, but they're often empty. Wait until they go brown before investigating.

Seed from Canna is very easy to grow. One of my favourite Cannas, came from seed pinched from a Devon garden,a few years ago

How can you lie there and think of England

  • Canna seeds - well if they are the seeds I assume that the large green leaves behind are Canna leaves - I thought all Canna leaves were a dark green/red colour. I assume you can buy packets of Canna Seeds?

Chiltern seeds have some interesting Canna seeds.

  • You've got creeping thistle there, too! Flower rand plenty of seed!

  • There are plenty of Cannas growing in the gardens over here - deep orange or red - do they attract bees?  I don't have them growing in my garden, but they certainly are very interesting plants. The thistle are growing in a field near here which used to have a good crop of cabbage each year - alas no more. Thanks for all your comments so far..
