I do worry that if my car ever gets stopped I'll "get done" for going equipped! That looks like another tasty piece for the collection. Thanks Richard.
Hi, I am a Retired builder and know pallets are not easy to dismantle, it is good if the wood is wet and have found if you put a brick or something to go under the wood you want, then use your body weight to push the wood down it is joined to, normally you don’t break many if any at all.
I had to take mine apart so couldn't wait for the usual rain to help me. Mine was a big 7' x 5' one which the builders had stuff on in spring. I've used some for lower down on a new section of fence, which isn't perfect but will have evergreens either side to hide the imperfections. A couple of better pieces have become the angled struts on a gate. The rest will be used on the inside of the existing fence, which won't be seen much. The heftier internal sections will be handy for the supports for any new raised beds I decide to make.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Stand the pallet on one edge (preferably with the top edge supported by something solid) with the planks which would be uppermost if it was laying on the ground furthest away from you, then with a hammer give the bottom of those uppermost pieces a good sound whacking.
Doing it that way rips the nails out as the uppermost planks part company with the rest of the pallet, and it comes to pieces a treat, in my experience.
Won't work if the sneaky devils have hammered the nails in from underneath, of course.
hi fairygirl when I worked in a builders merchants we got plaster boards on 10x4 8x4 and 4x4 I paid for diesel to the boss and got about 10 mixed pallets the road pins are the ones that you might see the orange mess on them I think I got 4 or 6.. then 6 3x3 planks and put a point on them and used them to enlarge the height to 6 or 8 ft or whatever size you want ( try some builders merchants and they might give you them (no harm in asking ) as I have been retired for 8yrs I have plenty time but it deffinitly works hope it helps

Weight? WEIGHT? What weight? I'm as light as a feather.

Thanks Keith.

Hi,
When using the pallets be aware that they may have fungus on so best use outside.
